Finished reading July 8, 2014. This was a very enjoyable read and probably the best book in the current series so far. The background on these characters is awesome and I’m appreciate each one more and more. Having come to know them in The Riyria Revelations series, in this series we begin to understand them. One character that intrigued me in the first series was the , seemingly, enigmatic Hilfred. Always present with Arista and yet unnoticed most times and, in a way, one character I wanted to know more about. Michael J. Sullivan came through in that department weaving a character who will be unforgettable. I am giving The Rose and the Thorn 4 1/2 stars and can’t wait for the next book.
July 6, 2014. About 40% through and enjoying it more than The Crown Tower. Thanks Michael.
