Currently Reading “The Ice Princess” by Camilla Lackberg

Finished reading the book March 5, 2015. I must say that I was somewhat disappointed with the book. First of all the writing it self. This, however, could just the translation by  Steven T. Murray. I know the difficulties translating can produce and have seen the same issue with other works translated into English: it doesn’t always come out quite right. What I was hoping to read in this book was a strong heroine in Erica Falck from the pen a female author. Here is where I found Lackburg fell short. And not just Erica, but her sister as well who is in an abusive relationship but unwilling to deal with it, nor did Erica step in. Throughout the book the momemtum is lost while one character or another, in tedious fashion, examines their emotional state. Had these been removed there would have been much better flow. In addition, had the book been trimmed by 25% it would have been better.

Is it enough to keep me from reading another one of her books? In all likelihood, no. “The Preacher” is Lackberg’s second book, which I will read. But, not sure when.

I did enjoy the plot of “The Ice Princess”, and for that reason will give the book 3 Stars.
