Weekend Writing Warriors – Restoration #1

Hi, I’m back with a fresh start to Weekend Writing Warriors after a two year absence.
I did a major re-write of Restoration from The H’Rhophyan Chronicles Series, along with completing nine more stories in the series. Planned on ten, maybe end up with twelve.

The first Episode in Series is called “Restoration“.

This link will take you to the Weekend Writing Warriors home page where you can check out snippets from other writers.

What follows starts at the beginning…

HE DID NOT WANT TO BE HERE. Snow fell on Demeas, concealing the golden-brown of his cowled cloak. He looked older than the forty-six years he was assumed to be, but his wrinkled face, buried under several days of greying stubble, revealed the toll the elements had taken making him look older still. Winter came early at this altitude, as shown by the sight of his breath and that of his horse. As a priest, he was accustomed to hardship and had never enjoyed what many considered luxuries. As a tracker, this was part of his job. He was glad, however, that he brought his rabbit fur-lined gauntlets. His steel-blue eyes surveyed the vastness before of him. The tracks that lay ahead of him would be preserved by the cold, making it easier for him to track his quarry. He just did not want to be here.

Next week I’ll have the next portion for you.

A priest, and a tracker…hmmm. Now you’ve got my curiosity up. Thanks for sharing, John.

  3. One has to wonder why he doesn’t want to be there – lots of great details, excellent snippet.

  4. Ed Hoornaert says:

This would seem to be a fairly standard tracking situation, so why doesn’t he want to be there? Intriguing.
    Welcome back to WWW, John.

  5. My curiosity is peaked. Who IS this guy? Well done.

  6. chellecordero says:

The excerpt is literally chilling. Wonder why he doesn’t want to be there and so curious about his very varied past. Good snippet.

  7. Thank you all for joining me this week. Your kind comments are appreciated. See you all next week.

  8. Good job thematically with this snippet. You’ve got snow, greying stubble, and steel blue eyes… all things evoking winter, cold, and hardness.

  9. I remember this story, John! Welcome back. 🙂 As others have mentioned, great details–really draws in the reader. 🙂
