Welcome to another snippets. It has been a restful couple of weeks over the Holiday Season and was actually surprised to see how much I achieved with nothing planned or scheduled.
I hope you will enjoy this week’s selection which is but a part of the greater whole. The idea is to present the entire short story to you 8 – 10 sentences at a time.
This link will take you to the Weekend Writing Warriors home page where you can check out snippets from other writers.
Demeas begins to track his quarry.
Demeas began his steep descent into the coastal port town of Irukan, a departure point for those heading north across the water to the Kingdom of Ghendhar.
To get to Ghendhar by land would require travelling east, then north and finally back west. It was a journey that took about four days, but Demeas knew that was time the thief didn’t have. By boat, those four days would become a few hours. He made several inquiries before he found someone willing to speak to him.
“Nervous ‘e was for sure,” said the old man. “Kept ‘is ‘ood pulled forward o’er ‘is eyes ‘e did, but ‘e was ‘Rhophyan.”
“Are you sure?”
“Carries a sword,” the old man’s eyes shifted toward Demeas’ sword, “like you ‘ave.”
