Weekend Writing Warriors – Restoration #31

Welcome to another snippet.

Over the next little while I will bring you the remainder
of the short story, 8 – 10 sentences at a time.

This link will take you to the Weekend Writing Warriors
home page where you can check out snippets from other writers.

The confrontation begins.

Faldron did not speak, but moved to an open area pulling his cloak behind him
revealing his swords.

The Pillars have no monetary value.”

“It’s worth more than you realize, Demeas.”

Demeas moved into the clearing, “Why did you steal It?”

“I can’t tell you.”

“Won’t tell me, you mean.” Demeas pulled back the left side of his cloak
exposing his sword, “I’ll ask only once. Who ordered you to steal The Pillars?”

“You already know who he is. That’s all I will tell you.”

Join me next week for another snippet as near the conclusion of the story.

  1. Ed Hoornaert says:

I like when he exposed the sword, upping the stakes drastically.

  2. Botanist says:

Verbal fencing before the real thing. I enjoy the gradual upping of stakes and maneuvering … threat and response.

  3. Faldron’s good with the mysterious answers, for sure. Poor Demeas, his job isn’t an easy one. Great snippet!

  4. What, I wonder, are the pillars true value?

  5. Oooo that ending was sure foreboding. Loving how tense this scene is!

  6. It seems like this conversation will go nowhere, hard to see who is going to win and get away with the pillars.
